Chairman Daniel Linstrum wanted to take a moment to update everyone on some changes within the ladies section of Rossington Main FC.
Firstly, it is with regret that we announce that Lee Mortimer has decided to step down from his role as the ladies first team manager last week. Lee has been a fantastic part of the club, and his contributions have been greatly appreciated. He leaves with our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for the future and on a personal note I’d like to add a delight to work with and just a top-class professional.
That said, we’re fortunate to have a ready-made replacement within the club. Mike Dyson, who has been doing an exceptional job with the development team, will now step up to lead the first team going forward. In the short time with the club, Mike has brought organisation, drive, and positive results to the development team, and we’re confident he will bring the same energy to the First Team.
Mike is under no illusion that the club’s target is promotion this year, and we firmly believe in the squad of players assembled and the new management team to go on and achieve this goal. With Mike now stepping up, John Hayes, our Under-18s manager, will also step up to take over the development team. He will be assisted by Jonny Rylance. John and Jonny will also continue their roles with the U18s alongside Richard Porter, ensuring a seamless transition and a continued focus on development.
Mike will be supported in his new role by Tom Armstrong, Stuart Howard, and Jack McKay, forming a strong coaching team to guide the Ladies First Team into the next chapter of their journey.
Dyson said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the Ladies first team at Rossington Main. I want to thank the chairman for placing his trust in me with this significant responsibility. My coaching team and I are fully committed to working tirelessly with the squad to ensure we achieve the goals that have been set for us, and I can’t wait to get started on this exciting journey!"
Linstrum said: "I was obviously sad to see Lee step down—unfortunately, that’s football, and very little surprises me anymore. That said, I’ve been impressed with Mike from the moment I first met him, and his appointment was an obvious choice. He’s hit the ground running and has already assembled an experienced backroom team to help achieve our goals. While the manager may have changed again, our ambition remains the same so we must now all unite behind Mike, his management team and the players to push on and achieve what we’ve set out to do."
"I’d also like to thank John for stepping up to lead the development team. I’ve known John for a while now, and when we first sat down nearly two years ago to discuss having a ladies team and for the vision for this section of the club, it’s fantastic to see that vision becoming a reality. His commitment to the football club and myself has been outstanding, and I’m confident he’ll continue to excel in his expanded role."
