Rossington Main opened 2020 with a fantastic display against league leaders Skegness Town.
Skegness started the 1st half brightly and were attempting to camp out in Rossington’s half for the 1st 10 mins with stringing good passages of play on the counter attack.
Skegness rattled the Rossington woodwork on 13 minutes after centre half Davidson had an effort come back off the bar. Rossington fought their way back into the game and earned the right to play some really good football winning their individual battles.
Adam Watson finished a great passage of play from Rossington to give Main the lead on 23 minutes. Goalkeeper Jan Budtz pinged a great ball our to the left wing to Brad Billam. He then beat his marker to swing in a fantastic ball to Adam Watson on the edge of the area. Watson then drilled the ball home to the right of the keeper J.Lambley.
Rossington didn’t look back after taking the lead and looked comfortable for the rest of the half against the league leaders.
Just after the restart Manasse Kianga doubled Rossington’s lead. Tom Foltyn-Brown brought down a pass on the edge of the Skegness area and spun his marker to play in Manasse Kianga. He then cut into the area and curled a wonderful shot into the top left corner.
Rossington rode their luck at times with Skegness having a shot just going wide of Jan Budtz’s goal and one skimming off his post from a free kick.
But Rossington saw out the game and made it their 3rd win in 4 home games.
