Rosso are back at home this Tuesday evening following Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round defeat to AFC Mansfield.
Doncaster’s highest-ranked Non-League side return to the fold at Oxford Street for the first home Northern Counties East League Premier game of 2024/25 following a point shared on the opening weekend away in Bradford at Eccleshill United.
While it was the Eagles who prevented Ben Hunter’s side from taking the full three points on the opening weekend, it was a point more than James Baxendale’s Frickley secured as The Blues were overturned 2-4 by Pickering Town despite the hosts having a two-goal cushion 51 minutes into the contest.
Following a first appearance at Non-League step 5 for Rosso last season after gaining promotion from the NCEL Division One in the campaign prior, this fixture was very evenly poised last campaign after both sides beat each other away with a narrow one-goal scoreline.

Pre-Match Press Conference
Rossington Main manager Ben Hunter said: “We are looking forward to the visit of Frickley Athletic on Tuesday evening. Frickley are a big club, with a great following so it will be the perfect challenge to see what we are all about.”
“Obviously back to the league Tuesday and hopefully we will see a positive reaction from what was a very poor performance all round against AFC Mansfield who credit to them were the better team throughout the whole game.”
“Obviously, we are going through a bit of a rebuild at the minute after losing six or seven key players this year from our squad, so it was always going to be a tricky period as we look to gel as a group but we will stick together and come out of it stronger.”
“We know our levels will need to be so much higher on Tuesday than what we saw at the weekend to get anything out of the game and I’m sure the players will be looking to get a bit of momentum going.”
Last Time Out v Frickley
Rosso registered a vital three-points last time out in what was near the start of a winning run back in March earlier this year. In front of a crowd of 304 spectators at Westfield Lane in a fixture which commemorated 40 years since the mining strikes, Jack Harrison’s early header proved to be the deciding factor in a 0-1 away win of which strengthened Rossington’s play-off finish.
