Greg Young’s era as interim manager starts with a bang as Rosso saw off the Steelmen with a convincing victory at Oxford Street.
Rosso raced into an early lead through young Lewis Graham who delivered an immaculate finish from outside of the penalty area after just seven minutes on the clock.
Rosso doubled their lead and soon tripled it in the space of three minutes as on the 63 minute Manasse Kianga met a long-ball over the top of which he used his pace and slotted away the game’s second. Three minutes later, Kianga smashed home his tenth of the campaign with confident strike from outside of the area to beat Greaves.
Prior to a late Jacob Pearson Parkgate consolation goal on the ninety and with just under ten minutes to go, Ash Worsfold made it four with a pin-point header which with the help of the bar just crossed the line to seal a perfect day at the office for Rosso.
Young’s era is interim manager got off to the possible start when Graham pushed the ball out of his feet and using his left foot caressed the ball into the far bottom corner giving the Steelmen’s shot-stopper Jordan Greaves no chance.
Rosso almost doubled their lead minutes later when top goalscorer Manasse Kianga attempted a similar style shot to Graham but from the opposite side however, Greaves got away with it as the attempt finished narrowly wide of the far corner.
In a half which the hosts dominated, Leigh Overton in-between the sticks for Rosso did deliver a couple of crucial saves and blocks to keep Rosso ahead.
As Kianga was fouled in which Rosso earned a free-kick, Ross Hannah was inches away from finding the second as his close-range shot lifted only slightly above the crossbar and out for a Parkgate.
The Steelmen started the second half strongly and after some good defending, Rosso came close when Kianga played through Graham however, Greaves timed his run out perfectly from the goal-line and got rid of any danger for the Steelmen.
Prior to Jack Harrison being substituted on for Brad Grayson, Kianga doubled Rosso’s advantage when he utilised his pace following a long ball over the top and delivered a clinical finish to mark his ninth of the new campaign.
Kianga wasn’t done there as three minutes later on the 66 minute, Rosso’s number nine fired in his brace with a robust strike from outside of the area to beat Greaves at the opposite corner.
From the bench, Rossington scored their fourth when Worsfold did well to steer his header on target and with the help of the crossbar, the ball only just fully crossed the line in what was a brilliant decision by the assistant referee.
Despite a late consolation goal from the Steelmen through Pearson on the ninety, the referee’s final whistle came and went with Young’s debut in the dugout confirmed as a near-perfect win in front of 171 mostly joyful spectators on a sunny September’s afternoon in Doncaster.
