Rosso are back at home this Saturday for game number two of Greg Young’s reign as interim manager as they welcome Pickering Town to Doncaster.
Following a brilliant 4-1 bounce back home victory over Parkgate last weekend in what was Young’s debut in the dugout, Rosso will be hoping for more of the same this Saturday as they host the Pikes who travel over from North Yorkshire.
Tony Hackworth’s side who make the trip from Mill Lane have started the Northern Counties East League Premier season in similar style to Rosso having racked up one point less but do have a game in hand over Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side. Pickering visit South Yorkshire following a 5-2 away defeat to the league leaders Penistone Church last Saturday, a Church side whom the week prior defeated Rossington 4-1 in what turned out to be Ben Hunter’s final game in charge for Rossington.
While it’s still early days in the season of which both sides occupy the mid-table positions of tenth and 11th, Rosso will be hoping to continue their head-to-head form against the Pikes having completed the season double last time out and also a NCEL JCP Construction Cup win via a lengthy penalty shootout of which Liam Nelthorpe scored the winning spot-kick.

Last Time Out v Pickering
Rosso kept all three points in South Yorkshire last time the two sides met on the final day of the regular NCEL Premier season last campaign in mid-April. In a game which Rosso had already decided their fourth place finish on their Non-League step 5 debut campaign, a Ross Hannah brace confirmed a comfortable two-goal victory over the Pikes prior to the play-offs.
