Rosso rescued a point in pure Greg Young never giving up and heading fashion with two late headers at Dennyfield.
Finn Donovan broke the deadlock on the 18 minute when his deflected effort found it’s way into the bottom corner. The Dennyboys then doubled their lead seven minutes later when Donovan confirmed his brace in a two-on-one with Shay Buxton.
Following multiple substitutions Rosso began to throw everything at it and Mitch Langton gave Young’s side hope after a headed effort which ended up in the top right corner. In pure kitchen sink time, Harry Middleton as he had done in Langton’s goal delivered another vital delivery for Ashley Worsfold to erupt the away end with an equalising header in the third minute of additional time and to see the game end a draw.
The game begin with the sun disappearing and the rain starting to pour at Dennyfield as it was the hosts who had the ball in the net during the opening minutes however, before the shot was kicked, the assistant referee’s flag was raised and therefore the goal would instantly be wiped off.
After an all Thackley start, Rosso then came close up the other end following a great run down the left by Manasse Kianga. Despite shots from each of Langton, Brad Grayson and Jack Harrison, the Dennyboys delivered the blocks for no one to actually hit the target.
Donovan opened the scoring for the hosts on the 18 minute when his deflected effort from the edge of the area unfortunately hit a Rosso man of which changed the balls direction and finished in the far bottom corner.
Seven minutes later on the 25 minute, Thackley extended their advantage when Donovan along with a second Thackley man broke free onto Rosso’s goal of which the Dennyboys’ number seven slotted the ball home to confirm his brace.
Cameron Hough showed great resilience after heading the ball back to instigate a dangerous Thackley attack however, Hough charged back and delivered the crucial sliding tackle to prevent a third but unfortunately got injured in the process.
Hough’s injury before the break saw summer signing TJ Mohammed Ibrahimi make his debut since signing in summer as he was subbed on for Rosso’s number six.
Including four changes in the second half Rosso had a lifeline with nine minutes of regular time to go as Middleton’s corner was nodded in by Langton into the top right corner of the goal on the 81 minute.
Rosso threw everything at it and at the death, deep into injury time Worsfold came to the rescue with a powerful header inside the box as once again Middleton was the man with the assist but this time from a marvellous free-kick played into the danger area. Therefore in front of 229 spectators at Dennyfield, Young’s official era as permanent manager would get off to an unbeaten start following a relentless Rosso finish spirited by a ‘never give up’ attitude.
