Rosso bounced back to winning ways in quality style at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds on Saturday with three-goals securing the all-important three points.
Rosso raced into an early two-goal lead when Oliver Nowak delivered a brace in the space of one minute scoring in both the 11 and 12 minute on the clock.
Following the visitors being two up at the break, the third and final goal of the ‘DN postcode’ derby would come 12 minutes from time when Ashley Worsfold on the half-volley sealed the deal for Rosso to complete the season double over The Vikings.
The battle between The Vikings and Rosso got underway with Leigh Overton making an important stop at the back post following a on-target header.
Seven minutes later, Nowak broke the deadlock with a well worked goal of which saw the number 11 steer round Harry Garman in-goal for the hosts and slot it into an empty net on just the 11 minute of the game.
Just under 60 seconds later, Nowak made it three goals in two games with a pitch-perfect finish into the bottom right corner despite the ball bobbling along the surface. Worsfold provided the number 11 with the assist following a perfectly timed chipped cross of which, allowed Nowak to take a touch and tuck it neatly into the corner, beyond Garman’s reach once again.
A quality defensive link-up followed with Cameron Hough and Overton who provided the initial save from Gavin Allott’s shot of which Hough soon cleared to prevent Goole from pulling one back.
Following the switching on of the floodlights, Overton continued to deliver numerous good stops to deny debutant for Goole Allott of a goal including multiple saved headers and also an attempt from James Eyles.
Despite Worsfold then coming close for Rosso up the other end, the half-time whistle would come with Rossington two-goals to the good.
With a first-half full of action, the second 45 minutes was in comparison fairly quiet however, 12 minutes from time the match’s final fait was delivered by a moment of individual brilliance from Rossington’s number nine. Worsfold emitted an immense half-volley from the right-hand side of the box to crush Goole’s hopes of an unlikely comeback.
In front of 145 spectators at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds and following two Rosso substitutions shortly after, Doncaster’s highest ranked Non-League side got the bounce back victory they deserved of which also completes the Northern Counties East League Premier season double over The Vikings with an aggregate combined score of 8-0 in Rosso’s favour for the two league meetings.
